Very Late Thermal Pulses Influenced by Accretion in Planetary Nebulae
نویسندگان
چکیده
We consider the possibility that a mass of ∼ 10 − 10M⊙ flows back from the dense shell of planetary nebulae and is accreted by the central star during the planetary nebula phase. This backflowing mass is expected to have a significant specific angular momentum even in (rare) spherical planetary nebulae, such that a transient accretion disk might be formed. This mass might influence the occurrence and properties of a very late thermal pulse (VLTP), and might even trigger it. For example, the rapidly rotating outer layer, and the disk if still exist, might lead to axisymmetrical mass ejection by the VLTP. Unstable burning of accreted hydrogen might result in a mild flash of the hydrogen shell, also accompanied by axisymmetrical ejection.

The Formation of Very Narrow Waist Bipolar Planetary Nebulae
We discuss the interaction of the slow wind blown by an asymptotic giant branch (AGB) star with a collimated fast wind (CFW) blown by its main sequence or white dwarf companion, at orbital separations in the range of several × AU ∼< a ∼< 200 AU. The CFW results from accretion of the AGB wind into an accretion disk around the companion. The fast wind is collimated by the accretion disk. We argue...
متن کاملDisk Winds and Planetary Nebulae I . Existence and Applicability of Solutions
Winds from accretion disks have been proposed as the driving source for precessing jets and extreme bipolar morphologies in Planetary Nebulae (PNe) and proto-PNe (pPNe). In this paper we address the applicability of self-consistent MHD disk wind models to PNe and pPNe. We first review the basic features of magneto-centrifugal launching disk wind models adapting results from previously published...

Wepresent ISO-SWS spectroscopy of the cool dusty envelopes surrounding two Planetary Nebulae with [WC] central stars, BD+30 3639 and He 2-113. The λ < 15 μm region is dominated by a rising continuumwith prominent emission from C-rich dust (PAHs), while the long wavelength part shows narrow solid state features from crystalline silicates. This demonstrates that the chemical composition of both s...
متن کاملStellar Evolution from AGB to Planetary Nebulae
Planetary nebulae are formed by an interacting winds process where the remnant of the AGB wind is compressed and accelerated by a later-developed fast wind from the central star. One-dimensional dynamical models have successfully explained the multi-shell (bubble, shell, crown, haloes) structures and the kinematics of planetary nebulae. However, the origin of the diverse asymmetric morphology o...
متن کاملWind Accretion by a Binary Stellar System and Disk Formation
I calculate the specific angular momentum of mass accreted by a binary system embedded in the dense wind of a mass losing asymptotic giant branch star. The accretion flow is of the Bondi-Hoyle-Lyttleton type. For most of the relevant parameters space the flow is basically an isothermal high Mach number accretion flow. I find that when the orbital plane of the accreting binary system and the orb...
